Technical SEO, AI search and international SEO
This is the part of my work most people find me for. I help businesses with complex websites work out why search engines aren’t seeing, indexing or ranking them the way they should, and then fix it with their developers.
Find the real cause, then fix it
One problem can cost thousands of pages
A generic audit can list hundreds of issues without saying which ones actually cost you visibility. On large sites, a single template, rendering choice or canonical rule can affect thousands of URLs at once, so that’s what I look for first.
I combine crawling, Search Console, rendered HTML, site architecture, templates, structured data and, where I can get them, server logs to see the site the way a search engine does.
What you get tells your developers exactly what to change, tells the business why it matters, and gives us a clear way to check that the fix worked.
Crawling & indexation
Discovery, crawl prioritisation, sitemaps, robots directives, index coverage and canonicalisation.
JavaScript & rendering
React, client-side behaviour, server-side rendering, rendered HTML and Googlebot accessibility.
Site architecture
Internal linking, crawl depth, taxonomy, templates and scalable information structures.
Technical migrations
CMS changes, platform moves, URL migrations and protecting organic value during implementation.
Structured data
Schema.org, entity relationships and machine-readable information that improves search understanding.
Developer delivery
Prioritised engineering requirements, implementation QA and post-release validation.
Making information easy for machines to use
The same foundations, new places to be found
AI search engines, answer engines and language models still depend on pages they can reach, render and understand. I work on those foundations: clear information architecture, consistent entities, structured data and content that states facts plainly.
I was doing SEO long before AEO and GEO had names, which makes it easier to separate what genuinely helps from what’s just a new label.
AEO
Answer Engine Optimisation focused on making clear, useful information easier to identify and retrieve.
GEO
Generative Engine Optimisation grounded in technical SEO, semantics and information architecture.
LLM discoverability
Helping important facts, entities and relationships become easier for language-model systems to interpret.
AI crawler access
Reviewing technical accessibility, rendering, robots controls and information availability.
Entities & schema
Consistent entity signals, Schema.org and machine-readable relationships that add context.
AI-assisted SEO
Using AI for classification, QA, analysis and automation where it improves the quality or scale of technical SEO work.
One architecture, many markets
Getting the right page to the right country
Hreflang helps, but it can’t rescue an international setup that’s confusing, duplicated or out of step with the business. I look at how the platform, URL structure, internal linking, localisation, canonicals and market strategy fit together.
My own work has covered Australia, the UK, the US, the UAE, Italy, Brazil, Japan and Africa.
hreflang
Language and regional annotations, return links, canonical interaction and large-scale validation.
International architecture
ccTLDs, subdomains, subfolders, language structures and how those choices affect search.
Localisation
Search intent, terminology, content differences and the gap between translation and real localisation.
Market expansion
Technical and search requirements when entering new countries or regulated markets.
Migrations
Consolidations, domain changes, language migrations and preserving international organic visibility.
International diagnostics
Wrong-country rankings, duplicate URLs, cannibalisation, indexation and inconsistent market signals.
